A crocodile was moving about in a pond while many people watched from the bank. Good pictures could not be taken from a distance, so a small drone was sent to get clear shots. As it flew, the drone came right up close to the crocodile's mouth.

At that very moment, to everyone's surprise, the crocodile leapt and took the drone into its mouth, then began to chew it. A little later, smoke was seen coming out of the crocodile's mouth.

A video of the incident recently went viral on social media. It caught the eye of Google's chief executive Sundar Pichai, who shared it on his Twitter account. A former executive of a California drone maker also shared the video on Twitter.

The incident happened recently in the US state of Florida. The person who was flying the drone said: "I thought the drone's sensors would keep it at a safe distance. That's why I tried to photograph the crocodile from so close. But in an instant the crocodile swallowed the drone."
