A total of 5,098 turtle hatchlings have been released at 12 points in Ukhiya and Teknaf in Cox's Bazar. The latest 550 were released into the sea on the afternoon of Saturday (5 April).

Abdul Kaium, natural resource management and climate change manager at Nature Conservation Management (NACOM), said 26,900 eggs were collected this season from 12 points in different parts of Cox's Bazar, and 5,098 hatchlings from them have been released.

He added that NACOM had collected 41,480 eggs over the past four years, and that 85 per cent of them were hatched and the young released into the sea.
