As in previous years, Bangladesh Coast Guard has taken steps to observe the "Tree Plantation Programme 2021" to implement the national tree plantation campaign, increase the country's tree resources and protect the balance of the environment.
Under the theme "Let us pledge in Mujib Year to make Golden Bengal green", the organisation's director general, Rear Admiral M Ashraful Hoq, opened the programme on the morning of Tuesday, 29 June, by planting one fruit, one forest and one medicinal sapling on the Coast Guard headquarters premises.
Lieutenant Commander Amirul Hoq, media officer at Coast Guard headquarters, gave the information.
Planting at every zone and station
He said that after the planting, prayers and a munajat were offered for the welfare and continued prosperity of the country and the nation. Directors of various Coast Guard departments and nominated military and civilian officers, staff and sailors attended, following health guidelines.
In response to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's call, he said, the Coast Guard has decided to plant various fruit, forest and medicinal saplings in stages at all its zones, bases, stations and outposts to implement the Tree Plantation Programme 2021.
After opening the programme, the Coast Guard director general called on members to come forward to properly implement the measures taken by the government to build the Golden Bengal of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's dreams.
