A housewife named Sajeda Begum (45) has died of a snakebite in Ariar Chak village of Chuadanga Sadar upazila.

She died while under treatment in hospital on Monday afternoon (3 June). Sajeda Begum was the wife of Ahsan Ali of Ariar Chak village in Titudah union of Chuadanga Sadar upazila.

Ahsan Ali said: "At night a snake bit my wife while she was asleep. I saw the snake too. After killing it, I admitted my wife to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital around dawn. Around 12 noon today the doctor declared her dead."

Local Union Parishad member Jahangir Alam said: "At some point in the night a snake bit the woman. She later died while under treatment in hospital. The body has been brought home and will be buried."

Biplob Kumar Saha, inspector (investigation) of Darshana police station, said he had learned that a woman had died of a snakebite.
