Two people have died of snakebite in Chuadanga. They died while being treated at the Sadar Hospital on Thursday morning. Two more people bitten by snakes are being treated in hospital.

The dead are Debashish (12), son of Joydeb Pal of Dingedah village in Sadar upazila, and Rajan (16), son of Bula Mia of Bhultia village in Sadar upazila. Two others, Konika (17) and Eva (21), are being treated at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

Locals and relatives said Debashish and Rajan were bitten by snakes, and their families brought them to hospital and admitted them on Thursday morning. They died shortly after arriving.

Dr Wahid Mahmud Rabin, resident medical officer of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, said two snakebite patients had died. He said patients bitten by snakes are given the vaccine as soon as they arrive at hospital, but if they are brought in late, the risk of death remains. He therefore advised taking victims to hospital quickly.
