Mangoes grown in Chuadanga will reach the market from 13 May, when the harvest of aanti, guti and Bombai mangoes begins. A calendar has been prepared setting the harvest schedule.

The decision was taken at a meeting to prepare the harvest calendar in the deputy commissioner's conference room on the afternoon of Sunday (10 May). Deputy commissioner Lutfun Nahar chaired the meeting, which was organised by the district administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).

The meeting was told that harvest dates for different varieties have been staggered. Aanti, guti and Bombai mangoes can be harvested from 13 May, followed by Himsagar from 20 May, Langra from 25 May, Amrapali from 5 June, Fazli from 15 June, Haribhanga from 20 June, Banana from 22 June, Ashwina and BARI-4 from 30 June, Katimon from 5 July and Gourmati from 31 July.

At the end of the meeting, deputy commissioner Lutfun Nahar said orchard owners and traders must follow the calendar, and anyone who deviates from it will be fined. Strict legal action will be taken if there is proof of any chemical or formalin being added to mangoes, and mobile courts of the district administration will monitor markets regularly.

Those present included additional deputy commissioner (general) Nayan Kumar Rajbangshi, district DAE deputy director Masudur Rahman Sarkar, additional deputy director (crops) Krishna Roy, agricultural marketing officer Shahidul Islam, Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection assistant director Mamunul Hasan and Chuadanga Mango Traders Association president Abdul Kuddus Mohaldar, along with prominent mango traders and growers of the district.
