A farmer named Shahidul Islam, 55, has died in Alamdanga, Chuadanga, after a mango stone got stuck in his windpipe while he was eating a mango.

The incident happened on the morning of Saturday, 30 May, in Bhangbaria village of the upazila. Shahidul Islam was the son of the late Badar Uddin Mondal of the same village.

Locals said Shahidul Islam was eating a ripe mango at home in the morning when the stone accidentally lodged in his windpipe. He developed severe breathing difficulty. Family members and neighbours tried to help him, but he died within a short time, writhing in distress.

Bani Israil, officer-in-charge (OC) of Alamdanga police station, confirmed the incident.

He said preliminary information showed that Shahidul Islam died after a mango stone got stuck in his windpipe while he was eating a mango.
