A student of Chittagong University (CU) has been bitten by a snake and is now admitted to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital.

The incident happened on the night of 8 July on the road next to the university's Khaleda Zia Hall, a women's hall, as he was returning from a tuition. The snakebite was confirmed by Ishaq Bhuiyan, communication and accommodation secretary of the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU).

The injured student is Ashraful, of the university's Department of Law, 2025-26 academic session.

A venomous snake bit Ashraful on the road beside Khaleda Zia Hall. He was taken to Hathazari Upazila Health Complex, which has antivenom but not all the facilities for full treatment. There he was given one dose of antivenom on doctors' advice and then sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Ishaq Bhuiyan said a student was bitten by a snake near Khaleda Zia Hall after returning from a tuition. He was quickly taken to Hathazari Upazila Health Complex and given a dose of antivenom, and he is now admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital under close observation by doctors.
