Four rare white lions have recently been born at a national park in China, and the zoo authorities say they will be shown to the public on Saturday, 26 December, the Daily Mail reports.

According to the report, the lions were born on 6 November at the Nantong Forest Safari Park in eastern China. The park authorities say all four are male, and the zoo recently shared several photos of them on social media.

The photos show the four cubs playing on their own, eating together, wandering around and teasing one another, with the zoo staff looking after them. The cubs appear very happy with the care, and even seem to pose for the camera, leading many to say they know the zoo is busy with them.

The photos went viral within moments of being posted, drawing many comments. One internet user said: "They may be lions, but they look just like tiny white dolls."

The Global White Lion Protection Trust says a total of 13 white lions are alive in the world today. The animals are found mainly in South Africa and are rare because of their white coats, so the trust is naturally pleased at the birth of these four cubs.

The Daily Mail also reported that although the cubs were born in November, they had not been bathed until now, as the safari park waited because they were only a few days old. The zoo gave them their first bath on Monday, 21 December. They will be brought before the public on Saturday, and the zoo has already made all the preparations.
