Chhatra Dal has taken up a 15-day tree-planting programme to mark World Environment Day. This was announced in a press release sent on Thursday, 5 June, by the organisation's office secretary (with the rank of vice-president), Md Jahangir Alam.

The release said Bangladesh is one of the countries hardest hit by the global climate and environmental crisis, and that the BNP has already taken various steps to prevent possible major environmental disasters in the future.

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has announced that, for environmental protection, 5 crore trees will be planted in five years if the party comes to power.

The release added that climate and environmental protection would receive special importance in the BNP's future manifesto. In line with this, Chhatra Dal has undertaken the 15-day tree-planting programme for World Environment Day.

As part of it, tree planting will be held for 15 days from 5 June at the initiative of Chhatra Dal in all districts, metropolitan units, upazilas, municipalities and wards across the country, as well as in all educational institutions.
