A pair of African lions and eight wildebeest have been added to Chattogram Zoo. The animals arrived at the zoo at 10pm on Thursday.

Of the lions, one is male and one female. Of the wildebeest, three are male and five female.

Confirming the arrival, Chattogram district administration's Nezarat Deputy Collector (NDC) Md Touhidul Islam told Jago News that the animals had been brought from South Africa and had reached Chattogram Zoo. For the next 15 days they will stay at the zoo under the supervision of the supplier and be kept in quarantine. After 15 days, if they are healthy, the zoo authorities will take them over and they will be opened to visitors.

Tigers, zebras, ostriches, kangaroos, llamas and several other species have previously been imported to Chattogram Zoo.
