The Forest Department's Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division has rescued 83 parrots and munias in Chattogram: 53 parrots and 30 munias.

The birds were rescued from the bird lane of Nupur Market in the city's Riazuddin Bazar between 4pm and 6pm on 6 June.

The bird traders slipped away on hearing of the raid. The birds were found caged in a warehouse in a four-storey building.

Muhammad Ismail Hossain, wildlife ranger of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division in Chattogram, confirmed the information to Jago News.

He said the raid was carried out with the help of Kotwali police station on information from the Wildlife Crime Control Unit in Dhaka. On the divisional forest officer's instructions, the rescued birds will be released in a suitable environment.
