Police have recovered seven crude bombs, known locally as "cocktails", from a mango orchard in Baliadanga union of Chapainawabganj.

They were recovered around 7.30pm on Wednesday (24 May) from an orchard beside Ramjibanpur High School Road in Baliadanga union of Sadar upazila.

Local resident Abdur Sattar said: "I came to the orchard in the afternoon to pick mangoes and saw the cocktails kept in rice bran in three shopping bags. I was startled and called 999, then told the ward member too."

Another resident, Abdur Rahim, said he went to cut grass in the field next to the orchard in the afternoon and saw the bombs lying there, and then informed local representatives.

Afzal Hossain, a sub-inspector at Chapainawabganj Sadar police station, confirmed the recovery. Seven crude bombs were recovered from the spot, and action will be taken after an investigation, he said.
