Joint forces have recovered 17 live cocktails, or crude bombs, from a mango orchard in Chapainawabganj. They were recovered on the afternoon of Saturday, 5 October, from a mango orchard next to the Dakshin Shahar Binodon Park of former member of parliament Abdul Odud in Sadar upazila.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Monir-uz-Zaman, commander of the Chapainawabganj 53 BGB battalion, confirmed the matter.
He said the cocktails were recovered from the undergrowth inside a mango orchard on a tip-off. Members of the joint force made up of the BGB, the army and police were present. The recovered cocktails have been handed over to Chapainawabganj Sadar Model police station.
SM Golam Zakaria, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model police station, said it is believed that miscreants had stockpiled the cocktails to create unrest in the area. Action will be taken after an investigation.
