Chandpur district police have held a summer fruit festival featuring a wide range of local fruits.

The festival was organised on the afternoon of Monday (10 June) at the police lines drill shed in the Baburhat area of Chandpur town.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Saiful Islam attended as chief guest. He said: "Local fruits are our heritage. That is why a summer fruit festival has been organised for members of our district police, as these fruits are most available in this season. Here they can taste various local fruits and also get to know different local fruits."

The festival featured 28 kinds of local fruit, including jackfruit, jamun, guava, lotkon, watermelon, pineapple, papaya, star fruit, banana, palm fruit kernel, pomegranate and pomelo.

Among others present were Additional Superintendents of Police Sudipta Roy (Administration and Finance), Rashedul Haque Chowdhury (Crime and Ops), Pankaj Kumar Dey (Hajiganj Circle) and Md Yasir Arafat (Sadar Circle); Assistant Superintendents of Police Khairul Kabir (Matlab Circle) and Md Rizwan Sayeed Ziku (Kachua Circle); and district press club president Shahadat Hossain Shanta.
