A housewife named Alladi Begum, 35, has died of a snakebite in Chandpur. She was taken to Chandpur General Hospital on the evening of Sunday (17 March), where a doctor declared her dead.

Alladi Begum was the wife of Golam Hossain of Pordaniya Kandi village in Dakshin Tarabunia union of Sakhipur police station in Shariatpur district, which borders Chandpur.

Her close relative Mohin Uddin Hawlader said she was bitten by a snake while taking down jute sticks from the loft of her home after iftar. She was taken to hospital, where a doctor declared her dead. She leaves behind her husband and a daughter.

Dr Biplob Sarkar of the hospital said she had died before reaching the hospital.
