Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan has said the Mango Special Train from Chapainawabganj was launched on the prime minister's instructions. He added that a special "cattle train" will again run this year to carry sacrificial animals cheaply and quickly. Sacrificial animals can be sent to Dhaka at low cost on the train: the cattle train will cost a quarter of what it costs to take cattle to Dhaka by truck.

He was speaking on Thursday (8 June) afternoon while inaugurating the Mango Special Train at the Chapainawabganj railway station premises.

He also said the trains suspended from Rohanpur in Chapainawabganj will resume in July, after Eid. The shuttle train from Chapainawabganj that stopped during the coronavirus pandemic will resume in September. "We have also started work on laying a rail line up to the Sonamasjid land port," he said.

The minister said the Awami League government had greatly improved rail communications. A separate rail bridge is being built at the Bangabandhu Bridge, where trains will run at 100 km an hour. National and international conspiracies could not stop the dream Padma Bridge, he said. Relying on the strength of the people, the prime minister had said the bridge would be built with the people's money, and she did it. A rail bridge is also being built on the Padma Bridge.

Also speaking at the event were Abdul Odud, MP for Chapainawabganj-3 and general secretary of the district Awami League; Md Ziaur Rahman, MP for Chapainawabganj-2 and acting president of the district Awami League; Dr Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, MP for Chapainawabganj-1; Ferdousi Islam Jesy, MP for a reserved women's seat; Deputy Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan; and Asim Kumar Talukdar, general manager of Bangladesh Railway West Zone.

Zilla Parishad chairman and freedom fighter Alhaj Ruhul Amin, officials at various levels of the railway and district administration, mango growers and traders were also present.
