A police officer in Dinajpur was admitted to hospital after being bitten by a snake while on duty. The incident happened on Friday morning at Diore Bottoli in Birampur.

The officer is Abdur Rashid, a senior sub-inspector of Birampur police station. He is being treated at Birampur Upazila Health Complex.

Abdur Rashid said: "In the morning I learnt of a road accident at Bottoli on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway. I went there, and while sitting on a chair writing down the names and addresses of the injured driver and helper, a snake bit me on the palm of my right hand. I then came to Birampur Upazila Health Complex for treatment. I'm well now."

Hasnat Yasmin, a doctor at Birampur Upazila Health Complex, said police sub-inspector Abdur Rashid came to hospital after being bitten by a snake. "We treated him. He is well now," she said.

Subrata Kumar Sarkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Birampur police station, said Abdur Rashid was injured by a snakebite while on duty in the morning and is being treated in hospital.
