Long ago, Shykh Seraj dreamed that the country's real heroes would come from the villages. That dream seems to be coming true: from among the sons of marginal and very poor farmers, some are becoming outstanding examples of success. One of them is Babul of Bhaluka. The hilly areas of Bhaluka and the village of Hatiber have changed.
A field as far as the eye can see
Beside newly planted Boro rice fields stretches a long green field, Babul's bottle gourd field, as far as the eye can see. The trellises alone cover 30 bighas. This is not the field of a veteran farmer but of Babul, an educated young man from a poor family in the area.
The success he has achieved by growing bottle gourd on 30 bighas of hilly land is a source of pride for Bhaluka upazila.
