An injured horse turned up bleeding at Bauphal police station in Patuakhali. Police immediately arranged treatment, and once it had recovered somewhat, the horse left of its own accord.
The horse appeared in front of the duty officer's room at Bauphal police station during the Jumma prayers at noon on Friday (4 March).
Bauphal police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Al Mamun confirmed the incident.
According to the OC, towards the end of the Jumma prayers the horse entered alone through the station's main gate. The police on duty tried to stop it, but it went inside. The duty officer then noticed a wound on its hind leg that was bleeding.
Treated by livestock officer
The duty officer told the OC, who came to the station and informed the upazila livestock officer. He sent a sub-assistant livestock officer, Abdul Aziz, to the station, who treated the horse.
Abdul Aziz said: "The wound looked like it was caused by a blow from something sharp, which tore off the skin of the leg. We dressed the wound and gave a painkiller injection and other necessary medicine."
He added: "After treatment it stood for a while and, when it felt well, the horse left the station of its own accord. The animal stayed quiet during treatment. Perhaps not even a person could keep so still while being dressed."
It is not known who owns the horse or whether anyone injured it.
