The Bangladesh Agriculture Reporters Forum (BARF) has launched the "BARF Media Award-2025" to encourage writing on agriculture.
The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the organisation's executive committee in a hall at Khamarbari. The meeting was chaired by BARF president Rafiqul Islam Sabuj and conducted by general secretary Kawsar Azam, with other leaders of the organisation present.
Under the decision, five people will receive the award this year. Agricultural reports are invited from journalists working for national and local newspapers, online news portals and television in Bangladesh. The best reports published or broadcast between 1 December 2024 and 30 November 2025 will be chosen by impartial judges. Winners will receive Tk 30,000 in cash, a crest and a certificate in the presence of one or more senior government advisers, prominent figures from the sector and political leaders. The deadline for submissions is 20 December.
Rules for entries
- A total of five people will receive awards.
- Reports published or broadcast between 1 December 2024 and 30 November 2025 must be submitted by email.
- Except for a series of reports, no one may submit more than one report.
- For print and online, an e-paper copy of the published report and the online link must be submitted. The email subject must read "BARF Media Award-2025".
- Links to television reports must be from the broadcaster's official YouTube channel or Facebook page.
- A short CV of the reporter must be submitted with two colour passport-size photographs.
- Properly submitted reports will be assessed by a panel of judges nominated by BARF, whose decision will be final. Each judge will assess every report separately, and the final winners will be decided at a meeting of the panel on the basis of the highest average marks.
