A young man named Saikat Ali has been admitted to hospital after being bitten by a snake, bringing the live snake with him. The incident happened at Bandarban Sadar Hospital at 10am on Thursday (21 September).

Saikat Ali, 34, is the son of Kabir Ahammed of the Shilghata area in Satkania upazila of Chattogram.

His nephew Md Jinnat Ali said his uncle had gone to a nearby area in the morning to work as a labourer. When he lifted a bundle of bamboo onto his shoulder, a snake in it bit him on the back of the neck. He caught the snake, and at 10:30am he came to Bandarban hospital with it and was admitted.

Dr Kausar Sultana, the doctor on duty at Bandarban Sadar Hospital, told Jagonews24 that Saikat Ali was being kept under observation and would be given the necessary treatment if his condition worsened. The snake is not thought to be highly venomous.
