A tree-planting programme was held in Bagerhat in memory of the district's nine martyrs. It was organised by the district administration and the Sundarbans East forest division at 11am on Saturday (19 July).

Present were Bagerhat deputy commissioner Ahmed Kamrul Hasan, East forest division DFO Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, superintendent of police Md Tauhidul Arif, Sagar Molla, son of martyr Alamgir Molla, students injured during the movement, and members of various political and social organisations.

The organisers said bakul saplings were planted in memory of the nine people killed in the massacre of 2024.

The martyrs of the student movement are Alamgir Molla, Alif Ahmed Siam, Mahfuzur Rahman, Nuru Bepari, Md Sabbir Islam Sakib, Jasim Fakir, Shahriar Hasan Alvi, Biplob Sheikh and Shahin Howlader.
