Amid this, a baby elephant's extraordinary deed has gone viral. A video shows a young man struggling in a fast-flowing river, and a baby elephant plunging into the water and rushing to save him.

It has been learned that the incident is quite old and that the young man was actually swimming in the river. But the elephant thought he was drowning, so it left its herd and rushed over to save the human's life.

After the Kerala incident, the video has spread afresh on social media. Sharing it, many have asked whether people love elephants as much as elephants love people, and whether we are worthy of that love.

The video was shared by a Twitter page called Nature and Animal. The caption reads: "This baby elephant thought he was drowning and rushed to save him. We really don't deserve them."

Shared on Wednesday, the video has so far been viewed by about five lakh people, with more than 4,000 likes and over a thousand retweets.
