On top of a house still being built in Ashulia, Savar, is a rooftop farm. Its creators are brothers Sajib and Rajib, who loved farming long before building this fine house and dreamed of keeping farming and greenery at its heart. As sons of a farming family, they had long wanted to stay close to agriculture.

The large roof is covered in green, with a hundred kinds of fruit and a collection of many nearly extinct plants.

Of the two, Sajib Matbar is more passionate and is the main entrepreneur. His enthusiasm has brought Japanese Miyazaki mango, year-round varieties and other fruits to the roof, which grows richer day by day. He spends much of his day there and said that during the coronavirus pandemic this small shaded space gave the whole family great confidence.

From his short experience, he has some observations on seedlings, saying rooftop farmers should be careful to choose the right planting material. The young entrepreneur says there is no alternative to rooftop farming for reducing global warming and protecting a polluted environment.
