Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has inaugurated the Bangladesh Army's Tree Plantation Campaign 2025. He opened the campaign on Tuesday, 8 July.

The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said that by planting a sapling in the Nirjhor residential area of Dhaka cantonment, he declared open a simultaneous tree-planting programme in all cantonments across the country, including Dhaka, as well as the DOHS areas and the Jolshiri housing project.

ISPR said this year's campaign has begun under the theme "Let us plant planned forests and build a green Bangladesh".

The programme will be carried out simultaneously by planting fruit, timber, medicinal and ornamental saplings in cantonment training and firing range areas, DOHS areas and the Jolshiri housing project. It will continue until September.

The main aim of the programme is to encourage everyone to plant trees on their own initiative in order to increase the country's forest resources and protect the ecological balance. Senior officers of Army Headquarters and the Logistics Area, as well as JCOs and soldiers of other ranks, were present at the event.
