Recipe for Aloo Ghati with Beef

Aloo ghati, a popular dish of northern Bangladesh cooked with fish or meat, is winning fans across the country, and here is how to make it with beef.

Aloo ghati is a popular dish from the north of Bangladesh, and lately it has been gaining popularity across the whole country. It is cooked sometimes with fish and sometimes with meat. Anyone who has once tasted aloo ghati made with beef will never forget it. Here is the recipe for this delicious dish.

Ingredients


  • Half a kilo of beef
  • 10–12 potatoes
  • half a cup of chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • one and a half tablespoons chilli powder
  • oil as needed
  • 2–3 pieces of cinnamon
  • 2–3 bay leaves
  • 3–4 cardamom pods
  • turmeric powder as needed
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • green chillies to taste
  • salt to taste

Method


First boil the potatoes, peel them and break them up. Heat oil in a cooking pot and fry the chopped onion. When the onion turns brown, add the bay leaves, cinnamon and cardamom. Then add the ginger and garlic pastes with a little water and cook for a while. Now add salt, chilli and turmeric powder, cumin and ground coriander and cook well. Then add the meat and mix thoroughly.

When the meat is tender, add the broken potatoes. Cook once more and add water as needed. Add a few green chillies. Simmer for about ten minutes and take it off the heat. In a pan, fry some chopped onion and garlic in a little oil and pour it over the meat as a tempering. The beef aloo ghati is ready.
