Post-harvest company AgroFresh used the Fruit Attraction 2026 fair in Madrid to show tools meant to keep fruit and vegetables in good condition for longer, extend shelf life and make supply chains more efficient.

The main new product was SmartFresh Sheets, which the company says will be launched shortly. It offers a different way of applying AgroFresh's SmartFresh treatment, in response to packers asking for more flexible post-harvest options, and it was shortlisted for the fair's Innovation Hub Awards in the fruit and vegetable industry category.

AgroFresh also put weight on digital tools. In the Fruit Next 10 programme, Alejandro García, the company's digital sales lead for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, presented the Harvista Intelligence Dashboard, developed with the farm analytics company Aerobotics. It lets growers monitor starch levels block by block in an orchard, so they can judge how mature the crop is and decide when best to apply Harvista, the company's pre-harvest product.

Oscar Coco Salgado, AgroFresh's global category leader for grapes, gave a talk on connecting data to the quality of table grapes, looking at how analysis and technology can support quality decisions along the table grape supply chain.

The company presents these products as ways to cut food waste, use resources more efficiently and keep produce in good condition for longer between orchard and shelf. Fruit losses after harvest are a familiar problem for growers and traders wherever fruit travels a long way to market.
