Actress Kazi Nowshaba Ahmed has joined an organisation active in animal welfare, wildlife conservation and environmental awareness as its ambassador. She will now work more closely to protect the rights of wild animals.

Nowshaba has become "Ambassador for Wildlife" for the Deep Ecology and Snake Conservation Foundation (DESCF). The announcement was made yesterday (18 March) on the organisation's Facebook page, which said that actress and social worker Kazi Nowshaba Ahmed had joined it. Her sensitivity towards animal welfare, wildlife conservation and environmental awareness is well known, it said, and through her the organisation will carry a positive message of coexistence between nature and people to the public.

Speaking to Jago News about the role, Kazi Nowshaba said: "I feel compassion for every living being. I joined DESCF because it works with wildlife. I have been kind to animals since childhood. Even now we see so many wild elephants dying, elephants being abused, and people killing snakes for no reason, and this pains me. I have spoken out on these issues at various times. I want to spread awareness among people to protect animal lives. The organisation had been following me for a long time. When they invited me to work with them, I agreed. I hope to do even better work in future."

Asked about her goal in protecting animal rights, she said: "My wish is that there will be no zoos in the world and that we will never keep any living being captive. Wild animals are beautiful in the wild, and I want everyone to accept that. My goal will be to spread everywhere the message that we must always remember the coexistence of animals and people. The world belongs to everyone, and I will keep saying so even more strongly."

Kazi Nowshaba Ahmed is a member of the Bangladesh Shilpi Kalyan Trust and the Film Certification Board. On stage she is currently performing in Tirondaj Repertory Theatre's play "Kanthanalite Surya". She was most recently seen in "Antara", a new episode of a web series by Nuhash Humayun.
