A tree-planting programme was held at the Supreme Court to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day. Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique opened the programme on the morning of Friday (17 March).

Appellate Division judges Justice Md Nuruzzaman, Justice Obaidul Hassan, Justice Borhan Uddin, Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Jahangir Hossain, along with judges of the High Court Division, were present.

Also present were Supreme Court Registrar General Md Golam Rabbani, Appellate Division Registrar Mohammad Saifur Rahman, High Court Division Registrar Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman and other Supreme Court officials.

Appellate Division Registrar Mohammad Saifur Rahman told Jago News that the tree-planting programme was held on the Supreme Court premises at 10am to mark Bangabandhu's birth anniversary and National Children's Day.

Opening the programme, Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique urged the people of the country to plant trees to keep the environment in balance.

Earlier, at 7:30am, the Chief Justice paid tribute by placing a wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait at Dhanmondi 32.
