Stamford University Journalists' Forum has begun a tree planting programme. It was opened on the morning of Sunday, 20 June, at the university's Siddheswari campus in Dhaka.

Present were Professor Dr Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, chairman of the university's Department of Environmental Science and dean of the Faculty of Science; forum convener and assistant professor Mosharraf Hossain; co-convener and assistant professor Tapan Mahmud Limon; forum president Hasan Wali; university public relations officer Shahnewaz Nizam; forum vice-presidents SK Shawon and Mazharul Islam Tamim; executive members Sazia Afrin Sristi and Raihan Khan Akash; and members Mariam Aziz Mourin and Sabbir Hossain, among others.

Saplings of various species were then planted, including gandharaj (gardenia), jaba (hibiscus), hasnahena, pomegranate and lemon.
