A slow loris that wandered into a populated area in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, has been rescued and handed over to the forest department.

The animal was rescued on Friday (16 June) from Finlay company's Fulchhara tea garden in the upazila.

Locals said people spotted a slow loris in the tea garden and informed the Wildlife Service Foundation in Sreemangal. Swapan Deb Sajal, director of the foundation, rescued the animal, which was then handed over to forest department range officer Shahidul Islam.

Range officer Shahidul Islam told Jagonews the loris had come from the forest to the tea garden in search of food. It is being kept under observation and fed, and will be released into Lawachhara forest once it is healthy, he said.
