A slow loris has been rescued from the Harinchhara tea estate in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar. When the primate came into a settlement in search of food, local people saw it and informed the Wildlife Service Foundation (Bonnoprani Seba Foundation). The forest department and the foundation's staff then rescued it.

It was rescued from a populated area of the Harinchhara tea estate at 11am on Tuesday (27 June).

Swapan Deb Sajal, director of the Wildlife Service Foundation, told Jago News that people have become much more aware. "They no longer attack animals as they used to. They catch them safely and inform the forest department or the foundation. That's a good sign. Even so, there are still reports from some areas of snakes and other animals being killed. We are trying to make people aware not to kill wild animals that come into settlements."

Assistant range officer Shahidul Islam and FG Subrata Sarkar of the forest department were present at the rescue.

Assistant range officer Shahidul Islam told Jago News: "We have rescued the loris and are caring for it at the rescue centre. After observing its condition and behaviour, it will be released in Lawachhara National Park."
