The Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation has rescued a large python, about 10 feet long, from a tea garden in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar.
The snake was rescued at midday on Thursday, 9 July, from sector nine of the Bhurbhuria tea garden next to the Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI) in the upazila.
Workers spot the snake
Tea workers picking leaves in sector nine were alarmed when they suddenly saw a large snake in a bush. They stopped work, moved to a safe distance and told the garden manager, Siddiqur Rahman. He informed the Wildlife Service Foundation, and its director Swapan Deb Sajal and environmental activist Rajdeep Deb Dip quickly reached the spot, identified the snake and rescued it unharmed.
Swapan Deb Sajal said: "The rescued python is about 10 feet long and weighs around 14 kg. The snake is healthy and safe. It was later handed over to the Sreemangal forest range office for the necessary action."
Confirming the rescue, Sreemangal forest range officer Md Nazmul Islam said the snake would be released into the forest.
