Twelve sacrificial cattle have been looted in Sitakunda, Chattogram. Robbers took the animals from a pickup in the Sonaichhari area of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Sunday night (25 May).

The cattle have not been recovered so far, though the vehicle carrying them has been.

Mojibur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda Model police station, said the drive to recover the cattle is continuing.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, trader Mahfuz was taking 12 cattle to Chattogram in a pickup van for sale on Sunday night when robbers stopped the vehicle in the Bogula Bazar area of Sonaichhari union and took all 12. The trader filed a complaint at the police station the next afternoon. Two days on, the cattle looted on the highway have still not been recovered.

Sitakunda Model police station OC Mujibur Rahman said a trader named Mahfuz Alam had complained that 12 cattle were looted from a pickup van at a spot in Sonaichhari. He had been taking the sacrificial cattle to a market in Chattogram city for sale. Several police teams are working to recover them.
