The forest department has detained two young men with 30 kg of deer meat in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. They are Shamim Sheikh, 30, and Ismail, 31, both residents of Datinakhali village.
They were detained on the night of Saturday 14 October at Datinakhali, next to the Sundarbans, in Burigoalini union of the upazila.
ABM Habibul Islam, the forest department's Burigoalini station officer, told Jagonews that they were caught with the deer meat in a raid carried out on a tip-off. They are being held at the Burigoalini station of the Satkhira range, and on Sunday morning they will be sent to the Satkhira court with a case filed under the wildlife protection law.
