A farmer named Aynal Haque (38) has died after a snakebite while checking his paddy field in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur.

He was bitten at about 2:30pm on Wednesday, 29 March, and died at about 5pm. Aynal was the son of the late Chhayedul Islam of Mondoliapara village in Ramchandrakura union of the upazila.

At about 2:30pm Aynal went to check his paddy field, where a venomous snake in the boro crop bit him. He immediately went home and told his relatives, who rushed him to Barmari Christian Missionary Hospital. The doctor on duty there said Aynal was dead.

He was then taken to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty also declared him dead.

Dr Toufiq Ahmed, Nalitabari upazila health and family planning officer, said the man had died before he was brought to hospital.
