Students of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) are providing veterinary treatment at sacrificial animal markets in the capital, including Gabtoli, the Polytechnic Institute market, Diabari and Eastern Housing.

The service began on 23 May and will run until 26 May, with 54 SAU students working at the markets as intern doctors.

SAU student Rabeya Akter, on duty at a market, said: "Getting the chance to work at the cattle markets for Eid-ul-Azha is a big experience for us. We are giving animals first aid and trying to make farmers aware, especially advising them on safe animal management and the proper use of feed and water."

She said they are working under the supervision of the Department of Livestock Services to ensure animal care and doing their utmost to ensure a safe Eid-ul-Azha.
