Four cows have been burnt to death in a fire started by a mosquito coil in Sadarpur, Faridpur. Farmer Nihar Mallik claims the loss is about Tk 4.5 lakh.

The fire broke out at 11pm on Saturday (8 May). Nihar is the son of the late Gafur Mallik of Lakharkandi in the upazila's Krishnapur union.

Krishnapur union parishad chairman Billal Hossain Fakir confirmed the incident and said the parishad would help Nihar Mallik.

Nihar believes the fire started from a mosquito coil. "I started rearing cows with money I scraped together with great difficulty from farming. But the fire burnt down the cowshed along with four cows. My cows, my last source of income, are gone. What will I do now?" he said.
