A young man named Md Rubel, 26, has killed the Russell's viper that bit him and brought it in a sack to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), the latest such case at the hospital.
He came from Koikunna village in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna and was admitted to the hospital on Friday morning (dated 7 July in the report). Md Rubel is the son of Zinat Ali of that village.
Billal Hossain, a doctor in the hospital's emergency department, said a Russell's viper bit Rubel in the morning while he was working in a banana garden. He killed the snake, put it in a sack and brought it to the hospital. He is now being treated in ward 16.
Earlier, on 30 May, farmer Hefzul Islam, 45, was seriously injured by a Russell's viper bite while cutting paddy in Charghat, Rajshahi. He too killed the snake and brought it in a sack to RMCH himself.
