A farmer named Ranji Pal, 70, has died of a snakebite in Raozan, Chattogram.

It happened on Saturday, 6 July, at Pahartali in the upazila.

Ranji Pal was the son of the late Nikunja Pal of Unasattarpara village in Pahartali union.

Anusen Dasgupta, resident medical officer (RMO) of Raozan Upazila Health Complex, said: "The farmer was working on farmland near his home at around 9:30am when a venomous snake bit his right leg. His family brought him to hospital at 11:30am. We tried in various ways to save him, including giving the vaccine, but he died at around 12:15pm. We fear the vaccine did not work mainly because time was lost after the snakebite."
