A vegetable trader named Md Mohsin, 37, has been killed by a buffalo bought for sacrifice in Rangunia, Chattogram. Four others were injured.

The incident happened on 13 June in the Jangal Bogabili area of No 1 Rajanagar Union in Rangunia upazila.

Mohsin was the son of Munshi Mia of Balukhali in Rajanagar Union. The injured are Helal Uddin, 55, Kamrul Islam, 50, Mozaher, 50, and Ezhar Mia, 45. Helal Uddin's condition is serious.

Rangunia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Chandan Kumar Chakraborty said the buffalo had been bought for Tk 2 lakh for sacrifice by Ahmed Syed Talukder, chairman of South Rajanagar Union Parishad. On Wednesday afternoon the buffalo broke its rope and ran off. On Thursday morning, in Jangal Bogabili, it injured at least five people including vegetable trader Mohsin, who died on the spot.

The buyer, Ahmed Syed Talukder, told Jagonews24 that the buffalo broke its rope and escaped on the way home after it was bought. "We announced a reward for finding it. When we found it and tried to catch it, it gored several people with its horns, injuring them. One person has died. We have given financial help to the victim's family," he said.
