Three people have been injured by the bites of a wild boar in Longadu, Rangamati. The incident took place at midday on 15 May in the Chailyatali area of Bhasanyadam union in the upazila.

The injured are Shawkat Akbar, Ziaul Haque and Md Mohin. Mohin was sent to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital in a critical condition, while the other two are being treated at a local hospital in Longadu.

Locals said a wild boar suddenly came down from the hills into the settlement while people were harvesting paddy in the fields. As it ran, the boar bit whoever it found in front of it.

Local resident Ainul Islam said: "The wild boar was very big. When hill people chased it to hunt it, it came into the settlement and bit whoever it found in front of it."

Confirming the incident, Bhasanyadam union parishad chairman Hazrat Ali said the injured were being treated. He said he had learned that the boar had gone back into the forest.
