Trucks carrying animals for Qurbani must display, on a clearly visible banner at the front, the name of the cattle market where the animals are being taken for sale, Md Saiful Alam, secretary general of the Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, has instructed.

The instruction was given in a statement on Monday (18 May).

In the statement Saiful Alam said that, in line with discussions and decisions taken with the government, any truck carrying sacrificial animals (cattle, goats, buffalo and so on) from anywhere in the country must clearly show the name and address of the market where they are to be sold on a banner at the front of the truck. This is so that the animals are not obstructed or held up by anyone on the road, and so that the help of law enforcement agencies can be sought.

He added that if anyone obstructs the transport of animals, drivers are advised to seek help from law enforcement. All truck owners and drivers have been specially asked to follow the instruction properly.
