Signs of winter are already showing by mid-Ashwin in Tetulia, the border upazila of Panchagarh at the country's northern tip. At dawn, dense fog and a light cold wind cover village paths, trees, crop fields and the flatland tea gardens in a white layer.
The fog is thick enough that objects a few yards away cannot be seen clearly on the roads at dawn. Vehicles on the highway and regional roads are moving carefully with headlights on, and many locals wear light warm clothes to start the day's work.
Resident Amirul Islam said the road ahead could not be seen at dawn and the chilly wind makes it feel cold outdoors.
Farm work is mildly affected: farmers say the fog and dim light delay their start in the fields in the morning, though the fog lifts once the sun is up.
