Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, a buffalo at a farm in Narayanganj has become the centre of attention. The huge, pink albino buffalo has been named 'Donald Trump', and people of all ages crowd in every day to see the animal, which weighs about 700 kg.

At Rabeya Agro Farm in the Paikpara area of Narayanganj town, the pink buffalo stands out even among the crowd of sacrificial cattle, buffaloes, goats and sheep. The three-and-a-half-year-old buffalo has relatively long hair on the front of its head, and many people see a resemblance to US President Donald Trump. That is why the farm named it 'Donald Trump'.

Farm staff said the buffalo was bought from the Rajshahi City cattle market about a month after last year's Eid-ul-Azha and has been raised with special care since. It has already been sold to a buyer in Dhaka at Tk 550 a kg live weight, and the farm says it will be handed over before Eid-ul-Azha.

Labiba Jahan, who came to see the buffalo, said: "I heard about 'Donald Trump' from people and came to see it. It really does look like Donald Trump. The buffalo has the same hairstyle as Donald Trump. I like seeing it."

Another visitor, Tahmina Arobi, said she liked seeing 'Donald Trump', adding that the buffalo has the same hair and body colour as Donald Trump.

Farm worker Md Parvez said people have been crowding in since the name 'Donald Trump' spread. Some wanted to buy it, but it had already been sold.

The buffalo's diet includes grass mixed with 12 types of feed, maize and bran, and special care has been arranged for it.

The owner of Rabeya Agro Farm, Ziauddin Mridha, said: "This is an albino buffalo. It weighs more than 700 kg. Because of the hair on the front of its head, my younger brother thought it looked like Donald Trump, and that is where the name 'Donald Trump' came from."

Narayanganj district livestock officer Dr Md Abdul Mannan Mia said: "The district has a surplus of sacrificial animals this year compared with demand. To ensure hygienic slaughter, 190 professional and 315 seasonal butchers have been trained. In addition, 25 veterinary medical teams will work in the district to ensure healthcare for sacrificial animals, identifying sick animals and providing prompt treatment."
