Friendly coexistence between people and animals is nothing new, and stories of friendship between humans and dogs, cats, elephants or birds often come up. Now social media has brought another heart-warming scene. A viral video shows a herd of deer sheltering from heavy rain under the same roadside roof as people, with no fear, hesitation or mistrust on either side, as if it were the most natural thing.

The scene is from Nara Park in Japan, where a group of wild deer roaming by the roadside took shelter beside people during heavy rain.

The park, founded in 1880, has more than 1,200 wild sika deer roaming freely. They are used to eating from tourists' hands, so they are hardly afraid to come close to people. The Japanese regard the deer as a national treasure.

Sharing the video, Indian industrialist Anand Mahindra wrote that he wanted to keep it in his collection to remind himself how the world should be.

Many people reacted to the video. Some said such coexistence between humans and animals is what everyone wants; others said it was good to see that there is so much peace somewhere in the world.
