Lilium flowers have been grown on a trial basis for the first time in Adhpakhia village of Muktagachha in Mymensingh. Flower lovers come to see the garden every day. Upazila agriculture officer Selina Parvin recently visited it.

After the visit, the agriculture officer said: "Lilium flowers in white, yellow, orange, pink, red and purple are usually seen in cold countries. The colours of the lilium are almost like a painting. It looks as if an artist has painted the flower with a brush."

She added: "Mohor Ali is a successful entrepreneur. He has grown lilium on a trial basis and succeeded. If any other farmers in Muktagachha like Mohor Ali are interested in growing this flower, we will try to give them all-round support."

Flower grower Mohor Ali said: "I grew seed that came from the Netherlands on 2 acres of my land on a trial basis. It was ready for harvest in only 34 days. I am very happy. I have succeeded with a profitable flower crop in a short time, and I plan to grow it on more land in future."

University student Priyanti and ninth-grade student Alamgir, who came to see the flowers, said: "We have never seen flowers like these anywhere before. We had seen them on TV, and now we have seen them in real life. We liked them very much. It feels good to think such beautiful foreign flowers are growing in our village."
