A photo of a cow wandering inside Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) Hospital has gone viral on social media, drawing a storm of criticism. The hospital authorities say the matter has come to their attention and action will be taken against those responsible.

A man named Tariqul Islam posted the photo on Friday (15 May) night in a Facebook group called "Mymensingh Recycle Bin".

In the post he wrote: "Cows walk around the paediatric surgery department inside Mymensingh hospital. Is there no one to look into it? I draw the director's attention. Please check the CCTV for around 10pm on 15 May."

The viral photo shows a black-and-white cow wandering along the corridor in front of the paediatric surgery department on the hospital's third floor. A patient trolley can be seen beside it and patients in front.

In a comment on the post, an account named "Aviary Farm Mymensingh" claimed the cow roams a rubbish heap on the west side of the hospital and is regularly seen in the surrounding area. The comment added that the owner should be identified and action taken.

Jhantu Sarkar, senior store officer of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said: "Dogs and cats run in, that's one thing. But a cow this big coming into the hospital and wandering around is unacceptable. We will look into why the security guards did not see it. Action will be taken against them once I am at the office."
