A farmer named Golam Kibria, 50, has died after being bitten by a venomous snake in Mirsarai, Chattogram.

The incident took place on the afternoon of Friday, 18 August, in the Domkhali area of Ward 8 in the upazila's Saherkhali union.

Golam Kibria was the son of the late Nurul Absar of Abbas Bari in the area.

Local teacher Md Yasin said a venomous snake bit Golam Kibria in the morning when he went to spray pesticide on his farmland. He came home but did not tell anyone. After lunch he went to a village doctor at Domkhali Bazar, who sent him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). He died on the way to hospital.

He added that Golam Kibria had lived abroad for a long time and returned home three years ago to take up farming. He leaves two sons and a daughter. He was buried in the family graveyard after a funeral prayer at 8:30pm.

Saherkhali union parishad chairman Kamrul Haider Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
